Hue is the closest major destination to Chan May Port — just 50 minutes by private car. As Vietnam's last imperial capital, Hue contains the most concentrated collection of royal architecture in the country. This excursion covers the three essential stops: the Imperial Citadel (the walled royal city with throne rooms and ceremonial halls), Thien Mu Pagoda (the iconic seven-storey tower on the Perfume River), and one royal tomb — either Khai Dinh with its ornate mosaic facade, or Tu Duc with its romantic lakeside setting.

• Dress modestly at the Citadel and pagoda. Shoulders and knees covered is required at active temple and palace sites.
• Khai Dinh Tomb vs Tu Duc Tomb: Khai Dinh is smaller but extraordinarily detailed — every surface covered in mosaic. Tu Duc is larger with a lake and more peaceful setting. Both take about 45 minutes.
