⭐ Sat 11 JulyGrand Final — longest and most spectacular night5:30 PM
If you can only choose one night, the Grand Final on 11 July is the one — longer performance, more complex choreography, and the highest production of the season. Japan's team (competing on 13 June) has won DIFF multiple times and is worth watching for the technical precision alone.
What time to leave Hoi An
Fireworks start at 8:00 PM. The drive from Hoi An to the Han River area is 30 km — 45–55 minutes by private car. You need to be in position at least 45 minutes before the show starts, which means arriving by 7:00–7:15 PM at the latest. Working backward:⏰ 6:00 PM departure — recommended for all nights
Arrives at the Han River area by 7:00–7:10 PM. Time to walk to your viewing spot, grab a drink from a riverside stall, and settle before 8:00 PM. For most DIFF nights, this is the right departure window.⏰ 5:30 PM — Grand Final only (11 July)
The Grand Final is significantly more crowded than regular competition nights. Leaving 30 minutes earlier means arriving before the main crowd peaks, easier entry into the best viewing areas, and no last-minute rush to find position before 8:00 PM.❌ 6:30 PM or later — not recommended
Arriving at 7:30 PM or later on a DIFF Saturday means the best viewing spots on the Han River railing are already taken. Traffic approaching the city centre also thickens significantly after 7:00 PM on competition nights. You will still see the fireworks — just from a less ideal position and with more stress getting there.🌙 The Lantern Festival bonus — 28 June
If you are going for the 27 June DIFF night, consider staying in Da Nang or returning early the next day — the Hoi An Lantern Festival falls on Sunday 28 June. Two of the summer's best evenings back to back, manageable with a pre-booked car both nights.Best viewing spots on the Han River

🌉 Dragon Bridge area (best overall)
The eastern approach to the Dragon Bridge gives a clear sightline to the fireworks stage and positions you perfectly for the 9:00 PM Dragon Bridge fire and water show — two spectacular events in one position. Arrive by 7:00 PM to claim a good spot on the railing. This is the most popular location and fills fast on competition nights.🏞 Tran Hung Dao Street (official grandstand)
The western bank of the Han River hosts the official competition grandstand. Ticketed seated areas are available — buy only through official DIFF or Sun World channels. Free viewing along the riverbank path is also excellent, with a direct angle across the water to the stage platform. Arrives earlier than Dragon Bridge area.🍽 Riverside restaurant with river view table
Several restaurants on Bach Dang Street and Tran Hung Dao Street have balcony or open-air tables facing the river. Dinner plus fireworks from a seated position — the most comfortable option. Book 2–3 weeks ahead for DIFF nights. These tables are gone well before the season starts.☕ East bank riverside cafés
Bach Dang Street on the eastern bank has pavement cafés with plastic chairs and unobstructed river views. Affordable, no booking required. A good option for friend groups who prefer to sit rather than stand in the crowd. Arrive by 7:00 PM to find a table with a clear view. What happens after the fireworks end at 9:00 PM

What actually happens to people without a pre-booked car: they open Grab, see a 45–90 minute wait and a surge fare, cancel, try again, repeat. Many end up walking 15–20 minutes away from the riverfront before finding a vehicle. The post-show transport situation on DIFF nights is the most consistently complained-about aspect of the festival — and it is entirely avoidable with one decision made before the evening starts.
Why you need to book both ways — not just the outbound trip
Most people think about the outbound car first and assume the return will sort itself out. It does not sort itself out on DIFF nights. Here is the difference between one-way and two-way planning:

✅ The only plan
- Outbound: pickup time at your Hoi An hotel (6:00 PM), driver at the door.
- Return pickup point: a specific street 2–3 blocks from the riverfront — away from the main congestion — confirmed via WhatsApp before the evening.
- Return time: 9:30 PM (straight after the show) or 10:15 PM (if you are staying for the Dragon Bridge fire show at 9:00 PM).
- Fixed price for both legs — confirmed before the night. No surge. No surprises when you are tired and ready to go home.

The pickup point matters. Your Minh Vu Travel driver will confirm a specific street address — 2–3 minutes' walk from the riverfront, away from the main post-show pedestrian congestion — via WhatsApp before the evening. You navigate there while everyone else is competing for Grab. Five minutes of walking versus 90 minutes of waiting. That is the practical difference between pre-booked and ad-hoc on a DIFF night.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Six Saturday nights: 30 May, 6 June, 13 June, 20 June, 27 June, and the Grand Final on 11 July 2026. Fireworks start at 8:00 PM each night at the Han River (16.0678°N, 108.2237°E) and last 20–22 minutes. The Dragon Bridge fire show follows at 9:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday nights.
Leave by 6:00 PM from your Hoi An hotel. The journey is approximately 30 km and takes 45–55 minutes by private car. Arriving by 7:00–7:15 PM gives you time to choose a good viewing position before the crowd peaks. For the Grand Final on 11 July, leave at 5:30 PM — it is significantly more crowded than regular competition nights.
Not reliably. After the show ends at 9:00–9:15 PM, tens of thousands of people are looking for transport simultaneously. Grab wait times near the Han River regularly reach 45–90 minutes on DIFF nights with 1.5–2x surge pricing. A Minh Vu Travel driver pre-booked and waiting at a confirmed pickup point is the only dependable return option from Da Nang on fireworks nights.
Contact Minh Vu Travel via WhatsApp +84 905 989 702 or through danangtohoian.com/private-car-from-hoi-an-to-da-nang. Specify your DIFF night date (e.g. Saturday 13 June), your Hoi An hotel for the outbound pickup, and your preferred return time — 9:30 PM or 10:15 PM. Both legs are confirmed at a fixed price before the evening.
The Grand Final on 11 July is the most spectacular — longest performance and highest production of the season. If only one competition night is possible, 13 June (Japan vs Italy) is consistently well-reviewed — Japan's team has won DIFF multiple times and is known for technical precision and choreographic complexity.
